Day Eleven: More Palaces and Pesky Tour Guides

February 1st, 2009

Still in the "Venice of the East," we explore the town with our driver Rakesh. He speaks about ten words of English so we are always a bit in the dark as to where we are going. It does amaze me however the words that he does recognize such as when we were joking around and mentioned 420. He knew that right away yet he cannot understand when we say super market. That's India for you. The picture above is a park for a past Queen of Udaipur. These green spaces are the only respite from the constant blare of traffic.

The famous Udaipur Lake Palace above only allows foreign visitors, how fair is that. We did not make it out to the hotel however. The hotel is now owned by the current King who makes an astouding amount of money off visitors.
