Chiang Mai and Overnight train to Bangkok
I am really beginning to enjoy train travel. Overnight trains especially offer you a unique slice of local life. This being my first Thai train, I was very happy with the journey. The meal that was served, although very expensive, was delicious and included red curry, coconut curry soup, rice and fresh fruit for desert. We spent the evening playing cards and drinking some Lao Whiskey that I had picked up a few days before. This seemed to be the main activity shared by Thais and westerners alike. After a few Lao whiskeys I was ready for the comfort of my bunk and tucked myself in while listening to the rhythm of the rails.
