A five hour drive Southeast of Jaisalmer brought us to the "Blue City" of Jodhpur. Much of the city is painted blue to help aid in the cooling of the homes. The amazing fort Mehrangarh sits high above the city reminding the people of this areas rambunctious past. While inside the fort there was an enormous group of young Inians that were screaming and shreaking as though a famous movie star or musician had just arrived. That was not the case, although things like that may happen at times, the comotion was due to a famed Guru or spiritual leader. It seemed as thought some of the girls would faint in his presence. As the Guru toured the fort, his group of faithful groupies clamoured and followed his every move straining to take the best photos possible.
Dinner was fantastic, after a short rickshaw ride to the center of this city of approximately 800,000 we started the search for a decent restaurant. Asking for a recommendation is normally not a good idea since the drivers will simply direct you somewhere they receive a commision for bringing you there. Looking up can be a good idea, there are many rooftop restaurants especially above hotels. We ran into a large, impressive hotel and restaurant called Indique. The view was amazing and the food was the best we have had in a restaurant yet. The total bill for five with beer was $50.
